On March 12th, Prof. Robert John Perrins visited BNUZ School of Art and held a lecture about how to apply for the postgraduate program overseas.

Prof. Perrins shared seven key points with BNUZ students. Firstly, a good grade of English is a must. Secondly, to choose three or four targeted schools precautiously. He particularly reminded the students of the importance of a good school rather than a famed school.

Thirdly, to email the professor one wants to go after. And there are four basic yet essential messages that should be included. They are "name", "degree", "programme" and "interest". Before it is sent, check the grammar carefully or ask friends and teachers to review to avoid errors.

Prof. Perrins also suggested students to log on to the university's official website for more information before making final decisions. Next,to submit the application form. Surely, the personal statement, GPA, and recommendation letter should be included.

Last and most important is what Prof. Perrins referred as "the research proposal", that is, a detailed description about the book or subject you want to study. The deeper impression to the supervisor, the more chances you stand out among numerous applications.

"As long as you get prepared, you will catch the chance." Prof. Perrins concluded at the end of the lecture.

Prof. Robert John Perrins got his Ph.D on Chinese Study from Toronto University, and used to study in Liaoning University, China. Currently he is the Vice President of Acadia University, CA, Dean of School of Arts, Guest Lecturer of BNUZ School of Arts, as well as the Founder and instructor of BNUZ international Chinese Program.
